Projects
Here you'll find a brief description of some the major projects that we will do in Computer Graphics 4. When taking the class, students will have access to all instructional videos for each activity and lesson. Some projects and themes are subject to change on a year to year basis.
Abstract Pastel Portrait
Students will practice pastel blending techniques and create an abstract self portrait. The style of abstraction, color choices and composition are completely up to the student.
Copper Plate Print
Students will explored a topic of their choosing, either from breadth or concentration. They will be introduced to copper plate prints and the techniques associated with how to make dynamic compositions.
Evolving Screen Print
Students pick a topic out of thier concentration or breadth. In small groups they will create a "story" of how their topic came to be, either through a fictional series of events or historical. They will then create of series of compositions that incorporate this story.
Painting
"in the style"
Students will research a studio artist of their chosing and some of their more famous works. Student will then practice in recreating the style digitally in Adobe Photoshop. Student will create an themed digital painting using the style they researched.
Still life-
Solving a social issue
Students will practice thier observation and drawing skills by creating a series of still lifes. They will then reinterprete the objects they choose and "mash" them together to create an fictional machine that is meant to solve a social issue of thier choosing.
EXTREME!
Students will create oversized carboard piece that depicts something extreme. This can be interpreted different ways including: extreme emotion, extreme lighting, extreme shadowing or extreme composition. Students are encouraged to depict a person or people within the work.
